What is ‘Jazzpunk’?

This week we discussed Jazzpunk on the Moving Pixels Podcast.

Jazzpunk was one of my favorite games of last year. It was a pleasure to talk about it on the podcast. Listening to the podcast again it made me appreciate how dense and how deep the game is. We talk for over an hour and we don’t manage to scrape the surface of the material. There’s plenty we didn’t get to dive into and what various elements say about the creators, video games and culture in general.

We look at the style and what that title Jazzpunk actually signifies. We discuss how it is funny and applies its humor. We talk about the cultural influences and inspiration. We also touch on some of the deeper meaning of what the game is saying about technology in our lives.

Overall, this episode reminds me of how much is in there. So much material to look at and so many lens to look through. I should probably get around writing about Jazzpunk at some point.
