Another month, our second minisode on the Critical Distance Confab.
I really like this series. I like getting to just chat about games and this is a good outlet for trying to foster conversation. Win/win. As a result, I have been really excited for the past two weeks as I waited for the release date to finally come.
The minisodes are still a work in progress. During the recording of this episode Zoya, while talking about CHYRZA, mentioned a piece I had just written about another of Kitty Horrorshow’s. In that moment I had a split/second choice to make. I could steer the conversation back to the game we had planned on, or let it sprawl out onto another work. If you listen to the episode or just glance at the show notes, you’ll know which choice I made. I might have made a different one had it been a bigger game by a studio, but I like the sprawl a little. We were both cheating slightly anyway. (Well as much as one can be cheating when you’re making up the rules as you go and the goal is to highlight as many interesting games not being talked about as possible.) Zoya pulled a three for one on Oskar Stålberg’s object toys and I talked about a game I technically did an entire podcast interview on.
I really do want to continue doing these. Please tell me how they are coming along and any thoughts on what could use improvement. And please, if you feel so inclined, write something about one of the game’s featured, or two, or all. I want to know that the effort on the minisodes is worthwhile. Again, you can listen to the latest episode here.
